Hi everyone. Hope you are well.

I've decided to stop posting on this blog. Why you say? Because my brand new site is finally online and I've started a new blog to accompany it.

You can view a big selection of all my work (lots of new stuff) on this site. The blog that goes with it is meant to share the evolution of my work. I will post all kinds of different things, like sketches, various colour tests, some new style tryouts, a couple of crappy experiments, pictures and so on...

Commissioned by VVL-BBDO, I got the chance to do something I've never done before: make illustrations to be used as stickers on cars. Electric cars to be exact. These are the clean versions of the illustrations.

Coca-Cola - Illustration for festival flyer

Brussels based advertising agency Demonstr8 asked me to make some illustrations for this year's Coca-Cola festival flyer.
Briefed to use the "Find Waldo"-approach and limited by the short deadline, I experimented with a new 'copy, paste & alter' digital technique.

If you can find all the Coca-Cola nurses and bottles, I'll buy you a coke.

I present you with the first island and matching avatars I designed for the community website www.thechangers.eu.
Six islands in total are featured online, each one making use of separate avatars which you can personalize yourself.
During this project the creatives gave me a lot of freedom concerning the illustrations, the characterdesign and the animations.

The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) commissioned Ogilvy to develop a campaign and a website to encourage people across the EU to take action to reduce their environmental impact.
Currently young people are playing The Changers game in over 27 countries. The MEPs from the ALDE group were so impressed with the campaign they have asked for the website to be translated into seven additional languages.
The ALDE Changers campaign has been short-listed for the Campaign of the Year in the EPAD Awards. The campaign was also featured in the Goodvertising issue of Contagious Magazine. I was very happy to see that the illustrations made the cover.

A Beautiful Morning

'I swear honey, this is what happened', he said.
'I was just on my way home from work when my flying caterpillar was ambushed by an enormous parrotwhale.' With an expecting look in his eyes, he inquired: 'you know, the ones with with the harpoonshaped tentacles coming out of their head?' Waving his green feathery arms he exclaimed: it nearly scratched my new rabbit-ears designerseat!' Then, squinting his eyes and curving his beak, he went on: 'the big gaping mouth, displaying a row of the most vicious looking teeth, didn't seem too radiate a friendly nature. So i lighted up a smoke, put the airworm in turbo and somehow how i lost our weddingring.'
Feeling slightly angered, but trying not to show it, she reached for the leather whip leaning against the tableside.

Mother - A Family of Fabulae

You would be flabbergasted what - or rather who - you would find in the lesser known parts of the deepest of deep oceans. A family of forlorn Fabulae, each of differing descent, brought together by chance, a promise of new life and sweet, succulent strawberry jam. It's the syrupy, pink jelly that binds them forever. Or just until the jar is finished, anyway.

Wesley & Maartje, finally immortalized through vectorial lines and colours. The funny thing is, they really look like this. Though they seem to have each lost two fingers. Oh well, every portrait has its price. And the four fingers look good in the little jar on our coffee table, very cosy.

Het Belang van Limburg 'Natuurtalenten'

This illustration was used in magazine- and newspaperads selling educational childrens' books about nature. The four small books were sold together with the newspaper Het Belang van Limburg.

The land of Morf

This is the story of a colleage who became a friend, who then presented me with a fairytale he wrote, which I liked very much and therefore decided to give shape to the main character, who you see standing on the rock above sticking his tongue out. His name is wolf. He has a custom made t-shirt, two eyes of varying colours and a mild case of ADHD.

Coke Zero's Visual Identity

Composed out of many themes liked by men, this logo illustration was born out of love, but shortly after given away for adoption by it's would-be parents. From now on it will spend its days on this blog, hoping that someday its promised family will reconsider their selfish decision. I wish it all the luck. Please take a closer look.

To accompany a small magazine interview, I made this selfportrait/profecy featuring my former copywriter and I. We worked as a creative team in advertising for 2,5 years before he decided to quit the business and become a shoe salesman (this is actually not a joke). Wether his decision was made after witnessing this drawing, I can't say for sure. In any case I'm a little more careful with what I draw these days.

In town, I saw a pink handbag on a shelf. Before I realised what exactly happened, it grew arms and legs, moved into my computer, stripped to its underwear on my desktop and stole my money.

Mr. Clean cleans your house and everything in it. I like Mr. Clean. He’s a genius. Me myself, I’m Brusher. But I prefer to be called Mr B. I get my thrills out of a tough cleaning job and my body makes it so heavenly easy — just like magic. To remove tough grime and everyday messes, cutting grease… Since a week or so I have a new hobby. Killing germs. First I play with them and then I finish them off. I might take a few more hobbies. I have time. As long as it leaves a streak-free shine, I’m into it.
